Hundreds of motorcycle riders lined up at a Shell gas station in Barangay San Miguel, Cordova, Cebu on Saturday, March 28, to avail of free gasoline provided by the local government.
The initiative was led by Mayor Cesar Suan as a direct response to the rising cost of fuel affecting residents in the municipality. The program operated on a first-come, first-served basis, drawing long lines of motorcycles from early in the morning.
The move was widely welcomed by residents, many of whom rely on motorcycles as their primary mode of transportation for work and daily needs. The Cordova local government's initiative reflects the kind of immediate, community-level response that has helped ease the burden on ordinary Filipinos during the current energy situation.
